Paper Plane

Bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and fresh lemon—Sam Ross's modern classic, citrus-forward and perfectly balanced.

The Paper Plane is Sam Ross's modern classic. Equal parts bourbon, Aperol, amaro, and lemon juice create a beautifully balanced drink with citrus brightness and herbal complexity.

Freezer-Door Batch (1L)

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Batch spirits only — no lemon. Fresh lemon juice oxidizes quickly and loses brightness when batched with alcohol. Add it fresh at serve time. Makes ~8 servings.

Combine bourbon, Aperol, and Amaro Nonino in a 1L swing-top bottle.
Add filtered water for pre-dilution.
Seal and shake gently to combine. Store in the freezer.
At serve time: shake the cold bottle, then pour 2.25 oz spirit batch into a shaker with ice.
Add 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice (squeezed that day — never pre-squeezed).
Shake hard for 10–12 seconds.
Double-strain into a chilled coupe.
Garnish with a lemon twist.

Notes on Batching

⚠️ FRESH JUICE MATTERS. This drink lives or dies on bright lemon. Batching the spirits gets you 8 pours at fingertip convenience — just squeeze fresh lemon each time you serve. The spirit batch keeps in the freezer for weeks.

Single Serve

Mix to order with fresh lemon juice. This is the proper method.

Notes on Single Serve

Equal parts everything. Fresh lemon juice is essential—never pre-batch with juice. Mix single-serve for maximum citrus brightness.
